Associated Press

Tel Aviv:
Indian flydubai pilot Captain Smit Machchhar suffered severe injuries after he was allegedly attacked by his co-pilot during a flight, but despite losing a significant amount of blood, he managed to open the cockpit door and helped avert a potentially serious crisis on board.

Dentist Treats Injured Flydubai Pilot
Shota said Captain Machchhar was in very serious condition when he reached him, with heavy bleeding from his head and hands.
“I was the only doctor on the plane. I managed to stop the bleeding, and the pilot was fairly stable until shortly before landing, when his condition deteriorated somewhat,” Shota said.
The dentist told CNN that the pilot had suffered multiple cuts and described the injuries to his head and hands as extremely severe.
He said the pilot was in serious condition because of the substantial blood loss.
Pilot Remained Conscious Despite Severe Injuries
Despite his injuries, Captain Machchhar remained conscious and continued communicating with passengers while lying on the floor of the aircraft.
According to Shota, the pilot told them that he was 39 years old and had two children. He also said that the attacker had stabbed him and cursed him.
Speaking to the Associated Press, Shota recalled that the wounded pilot continued praying and remained in contact with him.
Shota said he was worried that the pilot might not survive the incident.
Emergency Landing In Tabuk, Saudi Arabia
The aircraft eventually made an emergency landing in Tabuk, Saudi Arabia, where a Saudi medical team took over the treatment of the injured pilot.
Shota said he later understood that Captain Machchhar had survived and was out of danger.
Videos circulating on social media reportedly showed two bloodied and injured men lying on the floor of the aircraft.
