Blue Dart Express Limited और National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) ने 6 अक्टूबर 2026 को एक Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) पर हस्ताक्षर किया है।
Blue Dart NCRTC MoU: Express Parcel Movement to Be Explored on Namo Bharat Corridor
New Delhi: The Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Namo Bharat Corridor could potentially be used for more than passenger transportation, as the possibilities of moving express parcels and urban cargo through the regional rail network are now being explored. Blue Dart Express Limited and the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on October 6, 2026, to study the feasibility of express parcel and urban cargo movement through Namo Bharat services.
The initiative is currently at the exploration and feasibility assessment stage. This means that a regular commercial Blue Dart parcel service on Namo Bharat has not started yet.
What Will the Blue Dart-NCRTC MoU Study?
Under the MoU, Blue Dart and NCRTC will jointly examine the feasibility of moving express parcels through the Namo Bharat corridor. The study will look at several factors, including potential parcel volumes, operational requirements, station facilities, service standards and commercial arrangements.
Blue Dart will explore the possibility of integrating its existing pickup and delivery network with the regional rail connectivity provided by Namo Bharat. If the model is found to be practical, it could provide an additional transportation option for time-sensitive parcels and urban cargo moving between Delhi, Ghaziabad and Meerut.
82-Km Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Namo Bharat Corridor
The Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Namo Bharat corridor is approximately 82 kilometres long and connects Delhi with Ghaziabad and Meerut. The corridor also includes important transport hubs such as Sarai Kale Khan and Anand Vihar.
The network is already providing fast regional passenger connectivity across the National Capital Region. Through the new MoU, NCRTC and Blue Dart are now exploring whether the same infrastructure can also support logistics and freight-related requirements.
Potential Benefits for E-Commerce and Urban Cargo
The proposed initiative could create an alternative transportation model for e-commerce consignments and urban cargo. If the feasibility study supports implementation, Blue Dart’s pickup and delivery network could potentially be integrated with the fast regional connectivity of Namo Bharat.
The initiative could also contribute to developing a more efficient and sustainable logistics system. Greater use of regional rail for parcel movement could potentially reduce dependence on road transportation and help address traffic congestion and vehicular pollution in urban areas.
New Possibilities for NCR’s Logistics Network
The rapid growth of e-commerce and express delivery services across Delhi-NCR has increased the need for reliable and efficient logistics connectivity. The Blue Dart-NCRTC collaboration could therefore become an important step towards connecting regional rail infrastructure with the wider logistics ecosystem.
If the feasibility assessment is successful and the model is implemented, express parcel movement between Delhi, Ghaziabad, Modinagar and Meerut could eventually have another transportation option. However, the operational and commercial aspects would need to be finalized before any such service can begin.
What Did NCRTC and Blue Dart Say?
NCRTC Managing Director Shalabh Goel described the collaboration as an opportunity to explore new uses of Namo Bharat infrastructure and examine how regional connectivity could potentially be linked with the freight ecosystem.
Blue Dart Managing Director Balfour Manuel said the company would explore how Namo Bharat’s regional connectivity could be integrated with Blue Dart’s pickup and delivery capabilities and how such a model could benefit businesses.
For now, the project remains at the exploration and feasibility assessment stage. Therefore, the MoU should not be interpreted as the launch of a regular Blue Dart parcel service on Namo Bharat. Further decisions will depend on the outcome of the feasibility study and the operational and commercial arrangements worked out by both organizations.
